04.28.14Been a while!

I just realized I have not updated this site in over a year!! Well, for good reason- it has been a busy one. Some highlights were playing in Brazil at the Cuiba Jazz Festival with my Brazilian quartet, Scullers with my Organ Trio, The Beantown Jazz Festival in Boston, a Tour in Japan with Tiger Okoshi, and most recently a great show at Triboz in RJ Brasil. The Mike Tucker Organ Trio will be appearing at the Discover Jazz Festival in Burlington VT on Saturday May 31 at 12:00 PM. I will be posting more info on that soon. The Organ Trio CD is available on CD baby and Itunes, and my studio album is finally done! I am going to be posting some tracks very shortly.

03.05.13Great Shows in Brazil!

I just got back from doing some great shows in Brazil. They were totally packed and the audience was so supportive and great. I am looking forward to going back very soon! I have a new manager in Sao Paulo so I think I will be in Brazil more frequently now! I am currently working on putting together a tribute to Getz/ Gilberto for the 50th anniversary of the record that they did back in 1964 that was one of the best selling jazz records in history. I am collaborating with American and Brazilian musicians to write some updated arrangements of these songs to bring the music into 2013. I am really looking forward to digging into this project so be on the lookout for shows in the U.S and in Brazil in the near future.

I am also still working with my organ trio and we will have some shows coming up very soon. If you have not heard the CD yet you an buy it at CDBABY.COM and ITUNES. or at one of my shows.

See you all soon!
Mike

Last but certainly not least: I will be performing and teaching with the great Tiger Okoshi in Japan at the end of March. We will have performances in Tokyo and Nagoya and then we will be teaching for a week at Hokaido Groove Camp. 10.18.10Preparing to Record/ New You Tube page

Hey everybody! I am preparing to record my second album as a leader in the beginning of November. At the end of October we will be playing several shows in preparation for this recording in the Boston/ New England area. I will have my working band which is comprised of half Boston musicians and half NYC musicians. It is hard to get this group together because all of the musicians in my band are in demand by many other band leaders. Shows with this line up do not happen that often so if you can, please come and check one of these shows out! I also finally created a youtube account and posted some clips of a gig that we did at Ryles Jazz Club this past July. Here is the Link

04.28.10Volcanic Ash!!!

Hello everyone. Just got back from some very exciting tours, performances and teaching experiences. Back at the end of March I had a great time working with students in Japan at the Hokaido Groove Camp. It was a really amazing experience and the students were exceptional. I got to perform with some great musicians as well! Then I went back to the US and taught clinics at the University of Minnesota at Morris. It was an intense few days, and I got to meet and talk with over 20 different bands in 3 days. I had the great fortune of meeting and playing with the Pianist Bill Carrothers. He is truly one of the most amazing musicians I have worked with. Check him out!http://www.carrothers.com/. Then from MN I left for Europe and played a week long tour with Robin Mckelle. It was a really great tour. It is the best this band has ever sounded, and I will be posting some clips from these shows soon. Got stuck for an extra 4 days in Paris because of the Volcano and now I am back in Boston enjoying the spring and preparing to record my album hopefully in the late fall. It has been too long and it is time.
Hope you all are well and thanks for visiting the site. Will be posting new dates very soon.
Best
Mike
